Today we had fun in Math class with the "Math Quiz Game Show". We played Boys vs. Girls and had a great time! It was a great way to review math skills learned throughout the year.

Factors, Multiples, Bees and Bingo!

We have been doing some fun activities to review FACTORS and MULTIPLES in fourth grade. Here are some pictures of those activities. The students used spinners and dice for their activities. We will be having a test soon on these skills. They are important skills to learn because we will use those when working with fractions in the coming weeks.

Everyone is working hard to earn their Bee's tickets in the Buzz Reading Club. Many of the students are using their free time at school to read. We will have a fun trip to the Bees game on April 13th as a reward for all of their hard work! :)

As a reward for good behavior last week, we played MULTIPLICATION BINGO. The fourth graders loved it and it was a great way to practice those basic multiplication facts!

What We've Been Doing

Here are a few of the things we've been working on the past few weeks...

We've been learning about MEAN (Average), MEDIAN, MODE and RANGE. We watched a fun video to learn about Mean, Median and Mode and practiced finding them with given sets of data.

We've also started doing more Deductive Reasoning puzzles. The fourth graders have to use the clues to figure out the answers. They love these puzzles and keep asking for more! :)

Multiplication Mazes are a good way to get more practice on those multiplication facts.

Several weeks ago the fourth graders used some of their spelling words to write stories on our Kidblog. You can read those stories and see how they used the words.

Prime Factor Trees

Prime Factorization Trees were growing all over our papers in Math class today.
If you don't know what those are, ask your favorite 4th grader! :)

Mystery Graph Pictures

After finishing the test on long division, the fourth graders worked on mystery graph pictures for Christmas. They did a great job using the clues and the grids to color the corresponding squares to make a Christmas tree, reindeer, candle, Santa or Gingerbread house.

Equation Station

A fun activity that we started today is called "Equation Station". I have a bulletin board in my classroom with a grid of 16 numbers. The students have to find as many equations as they can using the numbers that are connected in the grid. Points are given according to the length of the equation. All operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) can be used. Some students even used parentheses and wrote algebraic equations! Several of us, including Mrs. Riepe and myself, are trying to figure out an equation using all 16 numbers in one equation. This activity is great for all levels of students.  It's been a fun challenge! :)
These boys are working together to write equations at the Equation Station.

We changed the rules a little bit...we made equations longer than 6 numbers!!
